Yes. The Silhouette is Vista compatible. New Silhouettes should include a Vista-compatible installation CD. Units with older installation CDs (labeled lower than 2.0 or without any version listing) are still Vista compatible, but users would need to install the latest version as found in the Support section of this website.

Is the Silhouette Mac-compatible?

No. The Silhouette software is not Mac compatible. However, the hardware may be hooked up to a Mac computer and can be used with Adobe Illustrator (version 8 through CS3; software not included). There is a plug-in available from our website. This plug-in enables Mac users to cut user-created images or text directly from the Illustrator program to the Silhouette. QuicKutz Silhouette digital designs (including the initial 50 included with the software and other downloaded digital designs) as well as Digital Design Portfolio CDs are not compatible with Mac. Please note that in this scenario where the Silhouette software is being bypassed, QuicKutz can support issues relating to the Silhouette hardware but cannot support third party software or trouble-shooting issues regarding Adobe Illustrator, including the plug-in program.

You may also run the Silhouette software on your Mac if you have a program that runs Windows through your Mac computer (such as "Parallels" or "Boot Camp") and a copy of Windows. If you are able to do so, you would have full access to the software, including the "Purchase Online" section for additional images as you would on a regular PC computer.
