Section 2: Opening the softwareNow that we're ready to open the Silhouette software, locate the Silhouette's "ROBO Master" desktop icon and open the software. The desktop icon should look like this:
Once the software is initially open, you will note that most all buttons are grey as shown below:
This is because the program needs to first know what paper size you will be using before it can give you the appropriate cutting area to work with. IMPORTANT: Before getting started, determine if you have a Silhouette or Silhouette SD. The original Silhouette (Silhouette-1) only has a blue power button which serves as the machine's "on/off" button.
The Silhouette SD has an LCD panel on the right-hand side of the machine as well as several selection buttons.
Go to the "File" menu and select "Preferences". In this window select the appropriate model you are working with. If you select the incorrect model, you will not be able to cut. You will only have to select this preference once.
