Section 4: Your First Cut

When you are ready to cut, you may now click on the "Cut" button located in the bottom right-hand corner of the Controller screen.

You will be given a check screen to verify you want to proceed with cutting your project and may click on the "OK" option to perform the cutting operation.

Observing the cutting process

Portrait Orientation: The Silhouette's blade will start on the right-hand side of the machine prior to clicking on the "Cut" button. Once the cutting operation is started, the blade will travel over to the left-hand side of the machine and the blade will briefly drop down in order to re-position the blade and place it into the correct starting position for the images being cut. The blade will then travel back towards the right and will begin cutting your image.

Landscape Orientation: The Silhouette's blade will start on the left-hand side of the machine prior to clicking on the "Cut" button. Once the cutting operation is started, the blade will travel over to the right-hand side of the machine and the blade will briefly drop down in order to re-position the blade and place it into the correct starting position for the images being cut. The blade will then travel back towards the left and will begin cutting your image.

In either orientation, please note that the Silhouette is not a whisper quiet machine. The sounds emitted from the Silhouette during operation that you hear are likely normal.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

  • If the Silhouette goes through the start-up process, but does not actually go through any cutting motions, you may find a resolution through our online trouble-shooting by clicking here.
  • If the Silhouette stops during the cutting process before your images have been completed, and the blue light flashes, you may find a resolution through our online trouble-shooting by clicking here.
  • If the image is not lined up properly (where the starting point of the cut does not match up with the ending point of the cut), you may find a resolution through our online trouble-shooting by clicking here.
